The Handy Guide To Qualifications
Surfing around to find the right insurance policy can be tricky enough, but when it comes to qualifications, it seems every insurance company has different criteria you have to meet. Even though you have the training, drive and skill you need to run your business successfully, not every course is accepted by every company. This can lead to you ending up incredibly confused about which qualifications you need to get insured.
Here at Fitness Gold, we think what you need to know about qualifications should be made not only easy, but as transparent as possible too. That’s why we’ve put together all the information on suitable qualifications that you need into this guide, so we can all be on the same page, together.
If you’re currently studying as a student and you don’t happen to have your qualification yet, don’t worry! Our specialist student insurance has been designed around those studying for a qualification too, so you can still get protected even while you’re training. Understanding Suitable Qualifications
To get insured for any Fitness Gold policy, you’ll need to hold a suitable qualification. What this means is that you’ll need to hold a relevant qualification for the activity you want to practice, which must have been issued by a school, college or university. Your qualification will also have to have been accredited by a suitable third-party UK professional body.
Some examples of accept professional bodies include:
- The REP (Register for Exercise Professionals)
Some examples of qualifications we accept include:
- Foundation degree
We also accept some individual day courses that have been undertaken for specific activities, provided they’ve been completed in a school, college or university and have been accredited by a UK professional body.
We regret that we’re unable to accept correspondence or home study courses as suitable qualifications.
Fitness Professions We Cover
We’ve put together a list of all the fitness professions we’re able to cover under our Fitness Gold insurance policies. You’ll find a full list of all activities covered on the relevant profession’s page:
- Aerobics Instructor
- Body Conditioning / Swiss Ball Teacher
- Dance Teacher
- Fitness Instructor
- Gym Instructor
- Personal Trainer
- Pilates Instructor
- Salsa Dancing Teacher
- Sports Therapist
- Tai Chi Instructor
- Yoga Teacher
- Zumba Instructor
Please note, you’ll be covered for all activities listed against your profession, provided you hold a UK-recognised and accredited qualification in those activities. Should one profession not cover all the work that you do, you can select multiple professions on the online quote form to make sure this is reflected on your certificate. Please note, you don’t need to select more than one profession to be covered unless the profession you’ve selected is not automatically covered on our activities list.
Unlike other insurance companies, we won’t ask to see copies of your qualifications before your policy begins, however you will be expected to produce any relevant certificates if you need to make a claim on your policy.
By completing our online quote form, you’re confirming that you possess the relevant qualifications for the activities that you provide within your business. We will not be able to cover you if you don’t hold the relevant qualifications necessary for the activities you have performed if you make a claim.
